Second International Workshop on Characterization and Engineering Properties of Natural Soils

Description:At the end of November 2002, an International Workshop on the Characterization and Engineering Properties of Natural Soils was held in Singapore. The aim was to produce a book containing high quality invited and refereed papers which described the characterization and engineering properties of a wide range of natural soils, including soft clays, stiff clays, weak rocks, sands and residual soils. The proceedings produced comprising 3 overview papers and 34 soil-specific papers contained a total of 1525 pages! These papers were presented at the workshop over 3 days.
Since then, many colleagues around the world have brought the attention of members of the Advisory Committee to the excellent works done by a number of other authors on a number of different soils not covered in the first proceedings. As the aim of this initiative was to produce a proceeding that is as complete as possible, it becomes necessary to organize a second workshop to complete this project.
